FAQ.

  • Cacao supports healthy blood sugar levels. It is packed with polyphenols, a type of flavonoids, which are phytochemical compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and neuro-protective and cardio-protective effects. When you eat cacao in its original state, you are getting all of the insoluble and soluble fibers, which slow down the absorption of the dates’ moderate sugar content.

Here are some articles on cacao’s health benefits:

  • CACAO BEANS
From Pisa, a cacao organization in Haiti that is Fair For Life certified. We get them from Uncommon Cacao, who are the pioneers of Transparent Trade, which goes beyond Fair Trade. They grow just south of the equator.

    DATES
The dates we use are organic from small farms in the Sahara desert in Algeria, one of the largest growers of the Deglet Nour variety, where they have grown for thousands of years. Emblematic of oasis agriculture and revered as sacred, they are a staple on every family’s table, and in ancient times, were the main food that people survived on. They grow just north of the equator.

    ESPRESSO BEANS
The beans we use are organic and Fair Trade, from a company called Equal Exchange.

    HAZELNUTS
Our hazelnuts come from Turkey and are made into nut butter in the U.S.
